I wish I could give more stars. I came to this location of Stepping Stone as a parent at her wit's end. My youngest child (18 months at the time) attended a different, nearby daycare and our experience was less than ideal. At the other daycare, I was made to feel that my son (again, a TODDLER) had something wrong with him because of incessant biting. I was even called in the middle of the day (multiple times!) to come pick up my child because his biting was excessive. I came to Stepping Stone and let Suzy (the director) know right off the bat that my son was a biter, that it was a BIG problem, and I hoped she would tell me they had systems in place to handle it. Not only did she reassure me that they had plenty of experience with children who bit, but she gave me the reassuring look of "I cannot believe your son's daycare can't handle this." She was able to get us in by the next Monday and in the entire year that he's been there, he's maybe bitten... 4-5 times TOTAL. This is a kid who was supposedly biting 4-5 times DAILY at his previous daycare. I've seen reviews about turnover, but that is the nature of daycares. (I say this as someone who has worked in or closely with daycares for over 2 decades!) At any rate, he's had relatively consistent teachers, and both Suzy and Shawna (the assistant director) are AMAZING. They know my son and his antics, and they even know my daughter, who often comes in with me to pick up her little brother. They are warm and friendly and yes, my son's class gets combined with others at the end of the day--any daycare that doesn't do that is hemorrhaging money and I'd honestly be worried that they lack the skills to manage their staff properly. Moral of the story: as a parent, I saw my child be valued, loved, cared for, and seen. What more could you possibly want from people who are with your kid an average of 8 hours a day? The only--ONLY--reason we are leaving Stepping Stone is because the place I work gives me an option for practically free childcare. I'll be saving roughly $15,000/year... which should've made this choice a no brainer, but if it's any indication to you of our love for this place, it was one of the hardest parenting decisions I've ever had to make and frankly... it wouldn't surprise me if we come back. ALSO, worth noting: This school has the widest range of open hours (I think 6:30 AM to 6:15 PM?!) that's unheard of and is open almost everyday except for the major major MAJOR holidays (like Christmas, Thanksgiving, etc.) Stepping Stone don't play!
