School-Age

Future Leaders and Inventors After-School Program

School-age children are still children – continuing to grow physically, emotionally/socially, cognitively and linguistically. But as they develop, 5- to 11-year-olds crave peer connection and information about the adult world, so they thrive on friendships, alliances, challenges and responsibility.

At Stepping Stone School, our Future Leaders and Inventors After-School Program offers your student a comfortable group atmosphere with learning centered around the accomplishments of the world’s greatest innovators and leaders. Weekly themes – such as Amelia Earhart, Albert Einstein or Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart – link interdisciplinary activities in interest areas such as Writer’s Workshop, Shakespeare’s Nook, Syntax Station, High-Tech Headquarters, The Louvre or Discovery Lab.

Homework Lab

Every day, students have scheduled homework time to begin or complete homework assignments. Our knowledgeable instructors understand how important homework is and work with students to get through it – including providing access to the Encyclopedia Britannica Online for research purposes.

Math & Literacy Club

A special area of your student’s classroom is designated and designed to support and inspire children’s love of reading and math. Featuring a vocabulary word of the day, book reading challenge, journal writing and math game rotations, the Math & Literacy Club gives your child the chance to win ribbons for successes in this fun and educational activity.

Junior Genius Zone

Each classroom also features exploration areas with state-of-the-art computers, math concept games, and activities based upon scientific thinking and inquiry. Students challenge each other to higher levels of learning using experiments, magnets and puzzles.
