Openings Still Available for Summer Camp

May 23rd, 2013

It’s not too late to give your child the gift of “Summer’s Smartest Destination,” a whole-child adventure that will nourish his or her mind, body and spirit!

CURRICULUM (Mind) – Our educational themes are the basis for fun, interesting activities and field journeys.

Your children will also take part in an organized math and literacy time each day to help them focus and hone the skills they learned during the school year.  We are dedicated to preventing summer “brain drain.”

Check out the smart and engaging subjects we’ll be studying this summer:

  • June 3-14: Growing Up Green  During this program, children will learn the importance of recycling and sustainability as well as gardening and healthy eating.  We will focus on the importance of maintaining both the environment, as well as our bodies.
  • June 17-28: The Space Age  This program focuses on outer space and the exploration of the universe.  Children will discover planets, stars and the solar system, as well as the means in which humans investigate the “final frontier.”
  • July 1-12: The Visual & Performing Arts  The subject of this two-week period is all of the ways in which one can express oneself artistically.  The children will learn about painting, sculpture, dance, acting, music, writing and even news broadcasting.
  • July 15-26: Perusing the Past  This section of the summer takes a look back at history.  Not only human history but the history of Planet Earth as well.  We will investigate the forming of the continents, dinosaurs and a variety of ancient civilizations.
  • July 29-August 9: Technological Challenge  Technological Challenge investigates both simple and complex machines and the forces of physics that make them work.  From pulleys to advanced computing, the children will discover how machines impact their lives.
  • August 12-23: Animal Kingdom  For the final program of the summer, the children will take an in-depth look at the vast array of animal life that inhabits Planet Earth.  From bugs to whales, the children will discover how these creatures affect humans and each other.

FIT FOR LIFE (Body) – We are pleased to offer our innovative “Fit For Life” program — health and physical activity education for all our students. The program teaches the importance of maintaining a healthy body.

Our Sports Camp is a popular feature that provides exercise and fun while teaching sports skills, strategy and social skills, like teamwork. We’ve added a variety of child-sized exercise equipment to our programs, too!

COMPASSION AND CHARACTER-BUILDING (Heart) – Lastly, a series of compassion and character-building activities will accompany the lessons each week. Your children will also have an opportunity to participate in a reflective thinking time each day.

Our exclusive “Entrepreneurs & Philanthropists” program is a big part of this series. Your young student will have the opportunity to help plan, organize and run four “businesses” for the purpose of raising money to donate to families in need. They’ve raised more than $9500 for Ronald McDonald House Charities of Austin since we began the program!

JUNIOR COUNSELORS (Ages 11-13) – New this year: This innovative program teaches leadership, team-building and social skills.

Ornithological Observation Subject of Smart Spring Break Program

January 29th, 2013

This year’s spring break theme, Ornithological Observation, and activities will keep your child learning while having fun.

Reading, reflective thinking, writing and fine arts provide educational opportunities to build skills in leadership, cooperation, communication, self-discipline and compassion. Chess Club, science experiments, math puzzles and our unique “Fit for Life” health and fitness enhancement are just some of the activities that will fill your child’s day.

Come explore the world of our fine feathered friends by:

  • building original bird houses
  • discovering owls as you dissect owl pellets
  • investigating and exploring migration patterns
  • designing an apparatus to protect a falling egg
  • and more!

Not only will your children learn all about these concepts and many more … they also will embark on a series of exciting field journeys, beginning with the Austin Nature & Science Center where they will see some live birds and other animals.

Next, we will get to be live participants in “Yuck! The Game Show” as we compete against our friends in a Nickelodeon-style game show.

And finally, we will take a trip to the movies for some rest and relaxation. Through these field trips, educational daily activities, an exciting classroom environment and a friendly, loving atmosphere, we will make this your child’s favorite spring break ever!

New this year, ask about our innovative Junior Counselors program, which is open to children ages 11-13 and teaches leadership, team-building and social skills through activities such as community service, planning activities and mentoring others!

Exciting Winter Break Camp Planned

November 21st, 2012

We are looking forward to our 2012 Winter Break Camp, “A Day at the Museum!” Plan to have your school-age children join our fun & educational school break camp.

A Day at the Museum

Our Winter Break camp activities and discussions will revolve around exciting museum experiences. We will explore the different types of museums: history, art, natural history, cultural, etc. The children will create a variety of museum exhibits through art, science, math and literacy and critical thinking activities then display them in their own classroom galleries. Come see exhibits including apple mummies, dinosaur fossils, model biplanes, ethnic masks, self portraits and more!

Field Journeys

We will be sharing the holiday spirit by caroling at a local nursing home, experiencing the “Dinosaurs Rock” exhibit presented by the Houston Zoo, and taking in an Austin Toros basketball game at which we will be able to go onto the court to meet the players and mascot — make sure to bring your autograph book! (Field journeys will vary some by campus – please ask the campus principal.)

Math & Literacy Club

Our exclusive Math & Literacy Club continues during winter break. Through a series of math and literacy activities, cooking projects and science experiments, your child will delve into a variety of math and literacy concepts through real world experiences. Every day, your children will participate in activities that further their knowledge!

Ask us today how your child can participate in these exciting Winter Break activities.
